Veterans memorial for Helicon back on track
A dinner at the Arley/Smith Lake Community Center on Helicon Road Friday, Aug. 2, will kick off fundraising efforts for the monument. The dinner, at $15 per plate, will be from 3-6 p.m. with plates including meat choices of spaghetti bake, chicken ritz or pork loin, two vegetables (broccoli salad, loaded potato casserole, squash casserole, turnip greens, pinto beans or corn,) a roll or cornbread, dessert and a drink served by members of the Arley American Legion, organizers said. The dinner will be carryout only.
