Philip Lohmann, a Republican candidate for state representative (143rd district), shares information and answers questions before the August primary election.

    Tell readers about yourself.

I am a 28-year-old Christian man, and I am running for MO-District-143. My background is in retail, aerospace, defense and medical supply chains. I am not someone for small talk, I am blunt, I don’t sell out, I don’t sugarcoat anything, I am a statistics and numbers kind of guy, I get to the point, I don’t take campaign donations, I 100% self-fund, I loathe government corruption and I enjoy a challenge.

What prompted you to run, or rerun for this position?

Back in 2019 I got a firsthand look at all the political leaders of Missouri and what I saw sickened me. The majority were retail agents turned politicians with no understanding or respect of the common man. Many have said to my face that the people are just drunk rednecks that will do whatever the government tells them to do. After speaking with them I found only about 20 or so are fighting for you in Jefferson City. The others are either spineless, incompetent, corrupt or all three. I decided to run to counter this corruption and plan to reduce the size of the government. While I do believe in the separation of church and state, I must point out we need Jesus Christ back as the moral framework of our country or there won’t be a country left to save. At least that’s my opinion and it is that drive, the motive to serve God, that has prompted me to run for office.

How do you plan to actively engage with our community throughout your term?

I will do everything in my power to engage in the community. After all a representative is supposed to represent you the people. My job is in short to be your mouthpiece, a defense lawyer up in Jefferson City protecting you and your rights from people both foreign and domestic that seek to take away your rights, dictate your lives and worst of all seek to do you harm. As presidential candidate Donald Trump once said, “They aren’t after me, they’re after you.” Those words ring true on every level of government, and I will stand as your shield and give my life if I have to, in order to keep you free and safe.

What are your top three priorities for our locality, and how do you plan to address them?

    (1) Lower taxes: Unlike my opponents Cook and Holzer, I will fight to lower your taxes. Bennie had four years and did nothing and Holzer believes we need more taxes. I will lower the gas tax; I will end personal property tax and I will end the sales tax for feminine hygiene products and baby products. (2) School choice. I will push for school choice. My opponent Cook voted against school choice and Holzer is sadly against it as well. Your kids need a future. Missouri has dropped from 28th in education to 32nd in education and it’s only getting worse. Parents, you know what’s best for your kids and it’s time you were given a choice. (3) I will get tough on crime. I will revive the State Guard and have them partner with local and state agencies to combat the human and drug trafficking in our state and bring these criminals to justice. These and many more issues I will be fighting on your behalf because nobody else will.
