KPRC reporter Aaron Wilson joins Next Up to break down the Cincinnati Bengals trading running back Joe Mixon to the Houston Texans. The Bengals were expected to release Mixon after they reached a deal with free agent running back Zack Moss on Monday.

The trade follows news that Texans former starting running back Devin Singletary agreed to a three-year, $16.5 million deal with the New York Giants. The Texans "underestimated the market for Devin Singletary" because "if they don't have Motor, they don't make the playoffs," Wilson said.

However, Wilson is excited about Mixon joining the roster. Mixon "fits this offense really well" and "it's a strong move by the Texans" who "had the leverage" in this deal. Mixon had 1,034 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in 2023, and Wilson predicts the veteran running back will nicely compliment offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik's offense lead by quarterback C.J. Stroud. "You can do so much with play-action now."

Wilson also comments on other Texans free agent signings, most notably cornerback Jeff Okudah, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair and edge rusher Denico Autry.
