UH Planning to Roll Out Alternate Blue Uniforms Again, Despite NFL Pushback

The University of Houston football team debuted last season an alternate uniform that seemed to be inspired by the throwback colors of the Houston Oilers. However, UH had to put a halt to using the uniforms when the NFL sent them a ceast-and-desist letter for alleged “blatant copying” of the Houston Oilers-themed uniforms.

Now, AD Chris Pezman is pushing back, saying they will proceed wearing the uniforms again, citing the long tradition of the light blue color that it tied to the history of Houston, which predates the use by the Oilers. H-Town Blue vs Oiler Blue - it will be up to the lawyers on both UH and the NFL's side to decide the difference.

But kudos to UH for pushing back. And shame on the Adams family in Nashville for continuing to pick fights with a city they chose to leave. They can own the Oiler logo, but you can't own every color that might resemble a shade of light blue.
