Tacodeli – the Texas-based taqueria created by chef/founder Roberto Espinosa and co-owner Eric Wilkerson – announced that it will open its second Houston location and 13th overall in its restaurant portfolio (Austin, Dallas, Plano, Houston) on Wednesday, May 22 within the evolving Post Oak Plaza retail center (1715 Post Oak Blvd., Suite C, Houston, TX 77056). Wednesday’s grand opening will be a community-oriented day intended to invite Houstonians to gather with the Tacodeli team over great food in celebration of a new chapter in its Bayou City story.

“As I’ve said many times over the years, my two favorite things are people and people that serve tacos,” Espinosa stated in a statement. “The entire staff, made up of people who love doing just that and do it with a smile on their faces on a daily basis, is looking forward to serving from-scratch tacos to loyal Tacodeli patrons and newcomers here at Post Oak.”

Tacodeli’s 2,757-square-foot Post Oak location includes indoor seating for 52 and patio seating for 20 and has been designed to combine its Mexico City heritage with its Texas roots. Specific flourishes at Tacodeli Post Oak include custom white oak millwork, terracotta breezeblocks, custom tile, new digital menu boards, upholstered seating and the incorporation of late Austin artist Cindy “Crash” Raschke’s colorful creations. Prior to her passing, Raschke painted a special space-themed art piece for Tacodeli’s Washington location that is also showcased at the Post Oak location in recognition of her unique talent and vibrant spirit.

“Tacodeli is rooted in authenticity but distinguished by creativity,” added Wilkerson. “It’s that way of thinking that drives us to find the best locations for our restaurants, and we feel like we found a great fit with Post Oak Plaza, which boasts a prime location with a strong community presence, ample parking and accessibility for our guests. We have a shared commitment with the property team and our neighbors to breathe new life into the center and plan to do our part to make it a vibrant hub for dining, shopping and entertainment.”

The opening of Tacodeli’s second Houston location comes at a time of exciting growth for the Texas brand, which has built its business over the course of the past 25 years around a diverse, vibrant and flavorful menu of made-from-scratch breakfast and lunch tacos, salads, soups, bowls, chips, queso, guacamole and salsas – including the fiery, award-winning Salsa Doña.

As part of its opening and soft opening festivities, Tacodeli has partnered with local non-profit BikeHouston on a charitable giveback in support of the organization’s mission to transform Houston into a city where anyone, regardless of who they are or where they live, can safely and easily get around by bike. The collaboration with BikeHouston is part of Tacodeli’s overall corporate ethos of pledging to be an active partner in its local communities; the brand regularly aligns with non-profits and participates in civic events such as the MS150, the Zilker Relays and the Houston Art Car Parade.
