Astros pitching prospect Jake Bloss is on the 15-day injured list after making his major-league debut Friday.

Bloss, who was called up from Double-A to help a rotation already ravaged by injuries, lasted 3 2/3 innings against the Baltimore Orioles before he was pulled from the game with what the team is calling "right shoulder discomfort."

After 79 pitches, Bloss left the game with a trainer, later saying he felt "a little tweak" in his shoulder in the fourth inning.

Astros manager Joe Espada said that Bloss, a third-round pick in last year's draft, showed right shoulder inflammation but no structural damage from his MR. It leaves the Astros with just four healthy starters on their 40-man roster, since Justin Verlander is also on the 15-day injured list with a neck injury and not eligible to return until July 1.

There are enough off-days for the Astros to survive without a fifth starter until their series in Toronto, but it is not ideal.
