HOUSTON ( KIAH ) – Today on Houston Happens, we’re kicking off the holiday with a bang. We’re also celebrating the 51st anniversary of Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in College Station. You don’t to miss this early Independence Day celebration.

Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic is one of the most iconic Fourth of July celebrations. Fifty-one years ago, the legendary singer held his first picnic at the Texas World Speedway in College Station. Dave Dalton Thomas has attended nearly every picnic since 1995. Today, he’ll be stopping by the studio to discuss the history of the picnic, which now takes place in Jersey.

Leah Daly , Education Program Manager of Alzheimer’s Foundation of America , stops by Houston Happens to discuss the unique challenges for someone living with dementia.
