The Houston Texans made a whole bunch of roster moves today, coinciding with the beginning of training camp. The most significant portion of the 10 transactions/designations that the team made involves their seventh-round pick from the 2024 NFL draft, LaDarius Henderson out of Michigan.

Back at the end of April, the Texans selected Henderson at No. 249 overall at the tail end of the draft. However, today he was waived with a non-football injury designation, per a report by Aaron Wilson at KPRC2. He is the first draft pick to get cut this year. Most likely Henderson will land on the injured reserve list.

Henderson (6-foot-4, 309 pounds) played tackle for Jim Harbaugh's Wolverines in 2023, earning a 55.0 overall grade from Pro Football Focus . That includes a 44.7 grade in pass blocking and 58.0 in run blocking. All together he ranked 497th in the nation at his position.

Somewhat small to play tackle at the NFL level, Henderson was projected to play guard for Houston.  The Texans may have already landed on Henderson's replacement, as one of the three players they signed today was former Colts guard Chris Reed.

However, another possibility is that they're looking to fill what would have been Henderson's spot with a different veteran. On that note, it's interesting that the team also worked out free agent offensive lineman Cameron Erving today.

Erving (6-foot-5, 315 pounds) was a first-round pick by Cleveland in the 2015 draft class. Most of his career has been spent playing left tackle, but he also has experience at left guard and center, as well. All together, Erving has appeared in 98 NFL games, starting 58 of them. If he signs Erving would serve as depth at several different spots up front.
