Astros mentioned among possible landing spots for four-time All-Star

Major League Baseball trade season is about to come to an end.

The trade deadline will pass on July 30th and soon enough all of the speculation and rumors will come to an end as real trades are made. Pretty much everything to this point has been hypothetical but there are just five days to go until the trade deadline.

Soon enough, teams looking to make a run at the World Series -- like the Astros -- will pull off some surprising trades. Rumors have been swirling and there could be some star power on the move and Houston will be heavily involved in trade talks.

Houston is looking to make another deep playoff run with its current core but needs a boost at first base. There will be some options out there for the Astros and Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer linked them to Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

"Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported on July 4 that the Astros would like to upgrade at first base," Rymer said. "And they darn well should, as the position ranks last in MLB with minus-1.4 WAR and its .586 OPS.

"But do the Astros have the prospects to sway the (apparently reluctant) Blue Jays? They might not, and Houston is otherwise already $24.6 million over the luxury tax threshold."

Rymer mentioned three teams that could make sense for Guerrero and had the Astros at No. 2 just behind the Seattle Mariners.

Guerrero immediately would give the Astros something they don't currently have. He is slashing .296/.366/.488 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in 100 games played this season. Imagine having someone like Guerrero in the middle of the lineup along with José Altuve, Alex Bregman, and Yordan Álvarez. That would be an absolute game-changer.
