If you were hoping to see the number one overall pick in the draft in action tomorrow night you're going to have to wait at least a little bit longer.

Yesterday Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus announced that his team would not be playing their starters in Thursday night's Hall of Fame game against the Houston Texans, including rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Apparently Tyson Bagent will be starting at quarterback in his place.

As for the Texans, head coach DeMeco Ryans wasn't quite so forthcoming when it comes to whether or not franchise QB C.J. Stroud and his other starters would play against the Bears. Ryans told reporters "we'll see" when he was asked earlier this week.

While it won't make for great television, the Bears are right to sit their new number one QB and the Texans should probably also sit Stroud. Whatever these players might gain from a few preseason reps is far outweighed by avoiding potential injuries in a meaningless game.

Expect to see Davis Mills starting for Houston at quarterback and playing most of the game, with some cameos by Case Keenum and Tim Boyle.
