Fans of the Houston Texans and Miami Hurricanes will have to wait a while before hearing from Andre Johnson. Rain has delayed the ceremony by several hours and the former star wide receiver is scheduled to speak last.
Andre did meet with the media to give us some idea of the themes he will address in his speech and his memories of playing in Houston.
On how welcoming the current Hall of Famers have been
Andre: It’s been truly amazing just to sit with the guys and talk to them. They're very welcoming. It's been a great experience and I'm just glad to be a part of it.
On how it feels to be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside fellow Miami Hurricane Devin Hester
Andre: For me it’s fun. Yesterday I walked up to Devin and said Man, I remember us first meeting each other. Did you ever think we’d be going into the Hall of Fame together? And he just laughed. It’s crazy how things work, for me and him to be going in together is a tremendous feeling.
On how special it is to have so many Houston Texans players here along with other former teammates
Andre: It means a lot. You never really realize the effect you have on people. I think for me, just having the support of those guys. I don't consider them teammates, I consider them my brothers because you spend so much time with those guys even more than your own family…I don't miss playing the game, I miss being around those guys.
