Debate Night Poll Results- Howell County Sheriff
This graph represents the results of an informal exit poll performed the night of the Sheriff’s Candidate Debate in Willow Springs this week. With only 78 responses, this is not a statistically significant poll. In August of 2020, the last time Howell County voted for Sheriff, there were 5,500 ballots cast. In April of 2024, there were more than 20,000 registered voters in the county.
9-year-old among 2 seriously injured after motorcycle hits deer
A nine-year-old West Plains male was among two seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in Howell County. The operator of the motorcycle, 28-year-old Brandon Barrett of West Plains, was transported by a private vehicle to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains. The report did not specify where the unidentified juvenile was transported.

Hamby injured in Howell County crash
Well-known stagecoach driver Rick Hamby, 65, of Caulfield, was seriously injured in a Sunday morning crash on Highway 160 three miles west of West Plains. According to the MSHP online crash report, the accident occurred at 10:08 a.m. when a 2001 Dodge 3500 truck driven by 42-year-old Justin Turner of West Plains going westbound on Highway 160 and crossed the centerline striking Hamby’s eastbound 2005 Dodge 2500 truck.

Two Missouri men were seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning in Howell County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 42-year-old Justin Tuner of West Plains was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 160, three miles west of West Plains, when he crossed the center of the roadway and struck a truck driven by 65-year-old Ricky Hamby of Caulfield.
