Rock Rapids, Iowa – The driver of a motorcycle was injured Friday when his bike struck a car in Rock Rapids. According to Lyon County authorities, a 2014 Ford Focus, driven by 31-year-old Joanna Hash, of Rock Rapids, was eastbound on Highway 9 in eastern Rock Rapids, when her car was struck by a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle being driven by a male juvenile.

Police arrest 17-year-old accused of shooting 13-year-old in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Cedar Rapids Police say a 13-year-old boy is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg. First responders were called to the shooting in the 1800 block of A Avenue NE just before 9:00pm Saturday night. The young teen was treated on scene then taken to a local hospital for additional treatment. Authorities say his injury was not life-threatening.

Now that we're on the other side of the summer solstice, quickly making our way toward the autumnal equinox (which is incidentally 50 days away), we are losing daylight at a fast rate.
