Pitsenbarger to be honored with new memorial
TROY — Airman First Class William Pitsenbarger, who received the prestigious Medal of Honor 34 years after his death, will have a new memorial erected in his honor. The Miami County Commissioners approved a one-time contribution of $25,000 to Miami Memorial Park in Covington, where Pitsenbarger and his parents are buried, at their meeting on Tuesday, July 23.
Miami Township Trustees Appoint Chief of Police
Miami Township, Ohio – The Miami Township Board of Trustees has named Lieutenant Robert Hirsch as Miami Township’s new Chief of Police. Hirsch has served 17 years with the Miami Township Police Department, and has held the role of supervising the daily operations of the department since 2021. Body found in Cowan Lake identified as Wilmington man; preliminary autopsy reveals cause of death was accidental drowning
The body of a 41-year-old Wilmington man was discovered at Cowan Lake on Wednesday afternoon. The mother of the deceased confirmed his identity as Matthew Teboe. Teboe’s mother, Susie Houser Teboe, confirmed with the News Journal that her son had passed away. She said that the preliminary autopsy results suggest that the cause of death was an accidental drowning.
