This Adorable New Shop Showcases Eclectic Goods From 130+ Local(ish) Brands
One of our favorite things about NYC is all the quirky, eclectic shops you can find while strolling the streets–like this cat-themed Japanese Stationery & Gift Shop! And this new Greenwich Village shop is a perfect one to add into the mix…especially if you love to shop local! Founder Caroline Weaver recently opened The Locavore Variety Store in Greenwich Village. Aptly referred to as “a shop about shopping” by Weaver, the shop showcases local brands and an eclectic mix of products all made within 100 miles of NYC. It’s pretty much an IRL manifestation of The Locavore Guide, NYC’s digital directory for 14,000+ local brick-and-mortars. 700+ products from 130+ brands are nestled within the shop’s four walls, and the eclectic product assortment is something out of a dream.

The Orchard Project Has Deep Saratoga Roots
Saratoga Springs might be the next off-off Broadway hotspot. No joke. That’s the vision of Ari Edelson, Artistic Director of New York City–based The Orchard Project, which Edelson describes as a “Yaddo for performance” that’s helped workshop, incubate and accelerate hundreds of plays and dramatic stories, including many that went on to off-Broadway and Broadway, winning Obies and Tonys along the way. For the last nine summers, Edelson has been bringing his artists and their creative output to the Spa City as a kind of creative testing ground for new works that will be produced across the country.

REVIEW: Norah Jones, Stanley Clarke close Saratoga Jazz Festival with a flourish
The 47th Saratoga Jazz Festival at Saratoga Performing Arts Center wrapped up on Sunday, with big name jazz artists Stanley Clarke and Norah Jones. Stanley Clarke *N* 4EVER crushed some jazz standards for a very appreciative crowd. The 4EVER band included Jeremiah Collier on drums, Beka Gochiashvili on piano and keyboards, Colin Cook on guitar, Emilio Modeste on saxophone, and, of course, Stanley Clarke on acoustic and electric bass. This band is truly a concert band with a fat jazz sound.
