Tarrant County considers sweeping reforms to property tax appraisal process
FORT WORTH – Tarrant County homeowners could soon see significant changes to their property tax bills if the Tarrant Appraisal District Board gives final approval to reforms it approved earlier this week.The board voted for changes to the current appraisal process to provide relief for homeowners. The proposed reforms include freezing residential property values until 2026 and then appraising them every other year instead of annually. Fort Worth ISD board votes down five-year strategic plan. What comes next?
Near the end of Fort Worth ISD’s July 23 board meeting, board President Camille Rodriguez said she did not know the next steps for the district. The comment followed a 5-2 vote against a strategic plan that aims to bolster academic performance across Fort Worth ISD for the next five years. Trustee Quinton Phillips and Rodriguez voted to approve the plan; trustees Michael Ryan, Roxanne Martinez, Tobi Jackson, Anael Luebanos and Wallace Bridges voted against it.
A new concert series in North Texas aims to support live music and independent venues
A local law firm and an event production company are launching a concert series. Shane Mullen and Joe Morrison, two attorneys at Mullen & Mullen Law Firm, are leading a new project with Spune Productions called the Mullen & Mullen Music Project. Spune Productions is a family-owned production company, which is responsible for booking concerts at select venues across North Texas. Based on their mutual love for local music, the law firm and Spune created the project to support local acts and venues strained by the pandemic.
