For the past few months, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have been hinting at a potential cage match.

In late June of 2023, Mark responded to a Tweet from Elon, jokingly challenging him to a cage match, saying, "Send me location."

But, as things generally do on the internet, things escalated quickly as "X" (formerly Twitter) erupted with odds of who would win. Mark, 39, has been training MMA (mixed martial arts) for the past few years. He's even competed in amateur ju-jitsu competitions, most notably winning gold at a California tournament.

Elon, 52, on the other hand, has been quite open about the fact that he does not exercise regularly due to... well, not liking it. In May 2020, he told insider.com reporters,

"To be totally frank, I wouldn't exercise at all if I could."

But, after supposedly turning a new leaf in recent years, Elon has been making an effort to exercise more and take care of his body. With a significant size advantage over Mark, Elon has been nonchalant that his background in judo coupled with his experience in "street fights" will make all the difference.

Mark recently installed a steel cage in his backyard to prepare for the fight, sharing a Whatsapp conversation between him and his wife, Priscilla.

Elon, on the other hand, has been "lifting weights throughout the day, preparing for the fight", according to cbsnews.com. The pair agreed to stream the fight with all proceeds going to charity. And, it felt as though the fight may actually materialize, with Mark sharing a text conversation, and working out logistics.

But, in the end, it seems as though the two weren't able to work it out. And, Mark shared this message, closing the door on the potential cage match.

Although it seems as though the fight was really just a way for the two tech billionaires to promote their budding social media apps (Mark with "Threads" and Elon with "X"), it began to get real legs as recently as August, 10th, where UFC president, Dana White, suggested Elon was still serious about the fight.

When asked by Oscar Willis of TheMacLife if the fight could still happen, Dana had this to say:

"I literally talked to Elon yesterday and I was with Zuckerberg two days ago... yes."
