Athens author details her life in an arranged marriage; offers advice to young women
Author and entrepreneur Comfort Rexford believes her first book can be an inspiration to women, regardless of their marital status. Rexford recently published “Arranged Marriage: The Dilemma of an African Girl,” which details her own arranged marriage more than 30 years ago in Ghana. Rexford is using the book as a launching point for her business, ConnieLove, which includes personal development coaching, speaking engagements and mentoring other women.

Animal Services Not Accepting Owner-Surrendered Dogs Until July 23 Due to Positive Parvovirus Cases
The ACCGov Animal Services Department at 125 Buddy Christian Way will not accept owner-surrendered dogs for intake until Tuesday, July 23 due to two confirmed cases of canine parvovirus and space constraints. The puppy area will also be closed to visitors during this time and some dogs in affected spaces may not be available for adoption until that time.
Former Georgia golfer Davis Thompson wins John Deere Classic for first PGA Tour win
Former Georgia Bulldog golfer Davis Thompson rode a strong front nine on Sunday to his first ever PGA Tour victory at the John Deere Classic. Thompson shot a 29 on the front nine on his way to a four-stroke victory over Michael Thorbjornsen and Luke Clanton. The John Deere Classic is played in Silvis, Illinois at TPC Deere Run, the weekend before the Open Championship. With his victory, Thompson earned an invite to the Open Championship, his first opportunity to play in that tournament and fifth major opportunity overall. Fellow former Bulldog Sepp Straka won the Deere Classic a year ago. Thompson won $1.44 million for his victory of the total $8 million purse at the tournament. He shot a 63, 67, 62, and 64 across the four days respectively, finishing 28 under par. His victory comes after finishing runner-up at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit a week prior. He will now seek to carry that momentum with him into Royal Trune in Scotland come Thursday.
