Part of highway in Baytown buckles under Houston heat
BAYTOWN, Texas — All of Harris County was under a heat advisory on Sunday and Monday. And it’s not just taking its toll of people. Roads are feeling the heat, as well. That includes a road in Baytown that buckled, apparently from the heat. Samantha K. shared video that showed a big issue with Highway 146 near Main Street.

A recent study found two Texas cities were among the filthiest in the United States. This is one of those cases in which I have to ask that you not shoot the messenger. Mobile to base homeless outreach initiative on successful Houston strategy
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — The city of Mobile created its first homeless outreach coordinator position and launched a team that will work with homeless people to get them the services and shelter they need. The city is basing this new initiative on the Harris County Sheriff's Office homeless outreach team in Texas. Deputies assigned to that team meet and build a rapport with people living on the streets in the Houston area.
Most Hispanic, Asian and Black residents moved to Texas last year
AUSTIN, Texas: The Lone Star State has had more new Hispanic, Asian and Black residents joining the state's population in 2023. Population estimates released this week by the U.S. Census Bureau stated that Houston added the most Hispanic residents among U.S. metro areas and Dallas the most Asian and Black residents.
Houston-area community library provides access to diverse, banned books
The Houston area has a new resource for residents affected by book bans — or people just looking for their next great read: The Woodlands Pride Community Library. Housed in Village Books at 9955 Woodlands Parkway, Suite F, the library has almost 400 titles. Many are stories from the LGBTQ+ community and/or authors of color, like “All Boys Aren’t Blue,” by George M. Johnson, “Drama,” by Raina Telgemeier, and “The Hate U Give,” by Angie Thomas.

HOUSTON – A Houston area renter has found herself in the hot seat after trying to be patriotic ahead of the Fourth of July Holiday goes wrong.
