Ten Teams Compete in Initial APS Pickle Play Cabaret
Saturday, May 18, the Auburn Public Schools (APS) Musical Department held its first Pickle Play Cabaret at the courts and bandshell at Legion Memorial Park. There were 10 mixed double teams that played in a round robin pool play tournament. Each team played every team, many of which were hard fought games on what was a warm morning. The top three teams, based on the number of wins, were awarded medals and prizes from local businesses. Top three teams were: first, John and Michelle Martin who received gift cards from El Portal; second, Mary Wolfe and Russ Wenzl who received gift certificate for kayak rentals from Kayakjak; and third, Kristin Kudrna and Beth Hannaford who received hats and a gift certificate from Scarlet & Green. The pickleball players are active in the group that plays locally. They are hoping for increased participation in the league.

Hiawatha swim team competes with Falls City
The Hiawatha Swim Team took on the Falls City Swim Team on Saturday of this week for a competition between local squads. In the mixed eight and under medley relay, Marshal Aller, Brenden Chandler, Henry Froeschl and Max Unruh took home first place. In the girls eight and under medley, Ava Froeschl, Bristol Neibling, Annie Nigus and Rylee James earned a first place finish. At the nine to 10 age group, Jackson Jagels, Gavin Chandler and Brody Nigus took first and Carter Bannister, Quinn Leahy, and Porter Hillyer grabbed second. In the girls nine to 10 medley, Reagan James, Halle McPeak, Emmy Nigus and Emerson Enneking took first place, with Adalyn Meyer, Vada Ross and Landynn Patton in third. Kasen Patton, Hunter Durre and Peyton Offman finished first in the boys 11 to 12 race, with Robbie Moore, Jack Delaney and Colbin Bachman in third. For the girls, Jaylee Bannister, Mila McPeak, Brenna Neibling and Madeline Aller came in first, with Jessa Diller, Shayna Chandler and Zayla Clark in third. Asher Leahy, Nola Boswell, Quinten Pentlin and Aya McPeak won the mixed medley in the 13 to 14 age group, while Lena Delaney, Taryn McMullen, Harper Chandler and Jayde Siebenmorgen in first for the girls.
