    Three people exposed to rabid cat in Huntersville: PD

    HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — The Huntersville Police Department is alerting residents about a rabid cat in the area.

    Officials say an alert will be sent out at 7 p.m. on Tuesday to people on or near S. Statesville Road in Huntersville. A cat in Mecklenburg County tested positive for rabies and exposed itself to three people. No domestic pet exposures were reported, police said.

    This is the 10th positive rabies case in Mecklenburg County this year; 2023 and 2022 each had 14 total positive cases.
