Westfield veteran calls for change to property tax law
A Westfield veteran has started a grassroots campaign to lobby elected leaders at the state level to increase the property tax deduction for veterans in Indiana. Mike Madigan served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. An Illinois native who lived in Wisconsin before moving to Indiana in 2020, Madigan said when he moved to Westfield, he was surprised to find the property tax exemption in the Hoosier State is far different from what was available in Wisconsin.

Some indications that a craft beer festival is special: 1) You have to enter a lottery to get a ticket, 2) You have to enter a lottery for your brewery to be at the event, 3) 6000 people come from the majority of US states to taste beers from 195 breweries, 4) There are dozens of events all around town on the eve of the festival, 5) it takes place in a the rolling hills of a park that overlooks a huge lake in the middle of a vibrant downtown, and 6) it is run completely by volunteers and supports several charities.

MUNCIE, Ind. – North American Stamping Group is closing its Muncie plant effective Nov. 30, affecting 62 employees of the factory along West Eighth Street, according to information filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The company, headquartered in Portland, Tennessee, filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (Warn notice) with the state agency Tuesday. On Sunday, highs will be back in the mid 80s, but we’ll see a few more clouds and higher humidity, so it will feel a bit stickier than Saturday.
