    Huntington Festival Marks Juneteenth

    Huntington celebrated Juneteenth on Saturday, with music, dance and  displays of Black history.

    Held at Manor Field Park, the celebration was emceed by Jillian Guthman, town tax receiver, and included town supervisor Ed Smyth welcoming the crowd, as well as Veronique Bailey, president of the Huntington NAACP, who talked about the history of the federal holiday.

    Violinist DeAndre Simmons, a student at Huntington High School, the Huntington Community Choir, and dancers from 3D Dance Studios performed. Christen Dekie sang the National Anthem and the song Lift Every Voice and Sing, which is also known as the Black National Anthem. Several organizations, including the Tri-CYA, Northwell Health, and volunteers with the future Huntington African American Museum were also on hand.
