Public Hearing Set Sept. 10 on Stanhope Stables Property

A public hearing on Sept. 10 will consider a proposal for a joint purchase of development rights of the Stanhope Stables property in West Hills.

The Town of Huntington and Suffolk County would jointly purchase the farmland development rights under the proposal, allowing the stables to continue to operate. The farmland development rights were valued at $2,954,500.

Neighbors and equestrian organizations organized last year in opposition to a request by  developer B2K for a zone change for the 15-acre property to build 59 units of housing on the property on West Hills Road.

The public hearing is scheduled for the Town Board meeting on Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.
