HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville Botanical Garden (HBG) will offer a brand new pre-k program beginning in September.

The Garden Sprouts Pre-K program will offer unique learning opportunities for four- and five-year-olds, who must be of age by or before September 1. The program will open on September 4 and run through December 20.

Children will be introduced to essential Pre-K topics to prepare them for kindergarten. The program’s approach to learning integrates nature play, enables children to observe, explore and engage with the natural world and fosters a sense of wonder by encouraging discovery and experimentation.

“What sets Garden Sprouts Pre-K apart from other early childhood programs is our foundation of a nature play philosophy,” said HBG Vice President of Learning and Public Engagement Rebecca Turk. “The children will spend at least 70% of their time outdoors in the Garden’s living ‘laboratory’ each day for hands-on activities that encourage discovery and experimentation.”

Garden Sprouts will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.

Tuition is $400 per month for Garden members and $500 for non-members. A non-refundable $100 application fee is required with each child’s application to secure a spot in the program. Sibling discounts are available.

For more information about the Garden Sprouts Pre-K program can be found on the HBG website . Any questions about the program can be directed to gardensproutsprek@hsvbg.org.
