Dallas police respond to multiple incidents overnight, including two homicides
DALLAS, Texas — Dallas police were kept busy overnight with a series of incidents, including two homicides and a business robbery. On July 20, 2024, at about 8:13 PM, officers responded to a business robbery call in the 2200 block of W Ledbetter Drive. The suspect entered the business, pointed a gun at the victim, and demanded property before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing under case number 111406-2024, according to the Dallas Police Department.

4 Dallas firefighters injured as engine crashes off bridge, lands on railway below
DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas Fire-Rescue engine crashed off an expressway bridge on Sunday and landed on a railway track below, injuring four firefighters, officials said. The crash happened just after 6 a.m. on the I-345 Expressway, Dallas Fire-Rescue Capt. Robert Borse said. He said it was not immediately known Sunday what caused the accident or if other vehicles were involved. All four firefighters were taken to the Baylor University Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition Sunday morning, Borse said. Portions of the expressway and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit rail system were shut down after the crash.

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has announced the annual Sales Tax Holiday, set for August 9-11, 2024, allowing shoppers to purchase qualifying items tax-free. The tax-free weekend applies to most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks sold for less than $100, whether bought in-store or online from Texas-based sellers.
