    Kidnapping scam reported in Hutchinson

    HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — Hutchinson Police Department says they have received multiple reports about a kidnapping scam.

    Someone has been calling Hutchinson residents, claiming that they have kidnapped their child. They make threats and demand money.

    The calls have been coming from a number that shows up as 620-344-8910 on Caller ID. Depending on your carrier, it may also be labeled as “Potential Spam.”

    Hutchinson police warn that if you receive a call like this, do not send them any money. Just hang up. They also recommend not answering any phone calls labeled as spam on your caller ID.

    Police say if you have any questions or want to check the validity of a phone call, you can call the non-emergency number at 620-694-2816 or 911.
