Oblong Chamber Organizing Town Wide Garage Sales
(Oblong) – The Oblong Chamber of Commerce is gathering addresses for the Village’s Town Wide Garage Sales. If you or your family would like to have your address listed on the garage sale map, you are asked to send a private message to the Oblong Chamber of Commerce via their Facebook page or call 618-480-1062. They say the listing does not need to be within the Village limits to appear on the map. Rural Oblong addresses may be added as well. Town Wide Garage Sales are scheduled for Saturday, August 10th. Maps will be posted on FB the week of August 10 and copies will be available at local businesses.

Survivors and Families Sue Illinois State Police, Citing Negligence in Highland Park Shooter's Gun Access
In a growing legal response to the Highland Park parade shooting, a lawsuit has been leveled at the Illinois State Police by survivors and relatives of the deceased, accusing the agency of negligence for its role in allowing accused shooter Robert Crimo III access to firearms. According to the Chicago Tribune, the complaint, which represents surviving family members of Eduardo Uvaldo and other victims, alleges the state police failed to adhere to internal regulations regarding Crimo’s firearm owner’s identification card application.
More Details On Sundays Arson Fires
Terre Haute, In. – The Terre Haute Police Dept. have released more information on several arson fires that were set in the city on Sunday. The suspect in the case is 29-year-old Cheyanne Lowrance. The first fire was set at the old JD’s Steak House on south 3rd where she was observed on camera setting the entryway to the building on fire. From there she continued to set 5 more fires in rubbish piles and trashcans. Police arrested her as she was setting the 6th fire near Sara Scott Middle School. Terre Haute Police officer, Robby Cornwell, was injured helping to fight one of the fires. He was treated at the scene.

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. (WKRC) - A girl was reportedly hospitalized after being thrown from a ride at an Indiana county fair. According to The Kansas City Star, the carnival rides at the Dubois County 4-H Fair in Huntingburg, Indiana have all been shut down following an incident that resulted in the injury of a young girl. Per the publication, witnesses said the girl was left injured after she was thrown from a ride.
