HUTTONSVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — Charges are pending against a 15-year-old who the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said was identified as the driver who led deputies on a pursuit over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help identifying the driver of an older-model Ford pickup truck who led deputies on a Saturday night chase from Huttonsville to Mill Creek, nearly hitting a pedestrian near Tygarts Valley High School.
Monday evening, the sheriff’s office said that it had collected video and other evidence, identifying the driver and other people associated with the chase. Charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.
A juvenile petition for fleeing with reckless indifference in a vehicle and fleeing on foot has been filed in the Randolph County Circuit Court, according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, the 15-year-old will receive citations for no operators, no insurance, improper registration and expired motor vehicle insurance.

HUTTONSVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help as it investigates a vehicle pursuit that happened over the weekend.
In a press release , the sheriff’s office said that it started just before 11 p.m. Saturday when deputies responded to several calls about an older-model Ford pickup truck with multiple people sitting in the bed, spinning its tires by the Huttonsville Par-Mar.
When responding deputies approached the truck, the driver “spun his tires and fled the traffic stop,” according to the release. The driver led deputies on a pursuit on route 219/250 through Huttonsville and into Mill Creek, fishtailing as the truck went past Linger Farms, almost hitting a pedestrian, and at times exceeding 60 miles per hour, the release said.
The driver “almost rammed into the back of an innocent driver” near Tygarts Valley High School the release said, before fishtailing again and striking the curb near the Pizza & Sub Shoppe, damaging one of the truck’s tires.
Deputies said the driver got out of the truck and ran off, getting away, but because of a “strong odor of alcohol where a bottle of Brandy was located” inside the vehicle, it’s believed this was a DUI driver.

The sheriff’s office is asking for any photos or videos of the incident, information about the driver, or other people in the vehicle, who are all believed to be younger than 21. Deputies are also encouraging the pedestrian who was almost hit to contact them at 304-636-2111 during business hours, or 304-636-2000 outside business hours.
