Kent Police Patrol and K9 officers arrested three juveniles in a stolen Hyundai Elantra on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 20, 2024, following a brief pursuit.

Officer Green was alerted at 4:12 p.m. that the vehicle, reported stolen in King County, was moving near Central Avenue North and South 228th Street. He quickly positioned himself and confirmed the car was stolen before requesting backup for a high-risk traffic stop.

Joined by K9 Officer Robinson, Officer Green initiated a stop, but the vehicle sped away. The pursuit was brief, with Officer Green safely executing a PIT maneuver to bring the car to a halt. The driver and two passengers exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Officer Robinson quickly caught the 16-year-old male driver, a Seattle resident, while additional officers, including Officer Clark, apprehended the two passengers: a 15-year-old female and a 13-year-old male, both also from Seattle.

The juveniles were arrested without incident.

The driver faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding, and obstructing public officers. The passengers were arrested for vehicle trespass and obstructing public officers due to the visible damage to the ignition and vehicle, indicating it had been stolen.

“Great job by Officer Green in intercepting the stolen vehicle and using calculated tactics to quickly bring the pursuit safely to an end,” police said. “Kudos to our speedy K9 Handler Robinson who was able to arrest the driver without his K9 partner. We are hoping K9 Atena isn’t too jealous that he captured this suspect without him.”
