SODA SPRINGS — It was bittersweetness when Cindy Erickson retired as the Soda Springs Library director.

Though she has left some big shoes to fill, the shoes are filled and off n’ running.

Hope Hansen may be the new director of the library but she is far from being a new face to greet the library's many patrons.

Growing up in Soda Springs, Hansen spent her childhood enjoying the library. She loved to read. She loved to learn. She loved the friendships she found there.

As a busy wife and mom, Hansen began working with Erickson in May of 2023 and found the library was a perfect fit.

Yet again she found another reason to love the library. She was able to work in an atmosphere where she could be mom and yet on new levels instill her same love for the library with her kids.

When Erickson announced she would be retiring, Hansen knew she would love to be considered to fill the position and started learning as much as she could about the job.

The Soda Springs Library is a well-loved hangout for many local people with a wide variety of activities for kids such as reading books, playing games or X-Box, and building Legos.

One thing the Soda Springs Library still lives by is that it may not be the quietest library around but it's definitely the most fun.

Now feeling the weight of her new role, Hansen has an even greater respect and love for what Erickson accomplished in her time at the library and hopes to build on the momentum Erickson created.

A library is much more than a place to read. It’s a place to meet, a place to rest, a place to learn, a place to ask questions and find the answers.

Hansen said, “I’m excited for my new role at the library and still learning a lot. I hope to find the magic Cindy had when anyone would ask for a book to read. I work with some of the best our community has to offer and one thing's for sure, the library is a great, safe place for all ages to come learn and grow.”

Hansen invites all to come experience the good vibes the Soda Springs Library has to offer.
