POCATELLO — A local man driving the wrong way on Interstate 86 crashed head-on into another vehicle.

The wrong-way driver, a 32-year-old man from Idaho Falls, was cited for driving under the influence following the 7:30 p.m. Wednesday crash just east of Pocatello Regional Airport, Idaho State Police said.

    His name hasn't been released.

The crash occurred while the 32-year-old was allegedly driving a 2001 GMC pickup truck eastbound on the freeway's westbound lanes. He slammed head-on into a 2007 Chevy truck driven by a 77-year-old man from Ammon, state police said.

Both drivers were transported via ambulances to Portneuf Medical Center. There have been no updates on their conditions but state police confirmed the 32-year-old was charged with first offense DUI.

The 77-year-old's name hasn't been released.

Both pickups were totaled in the crash and Interstate 86 was partially blocked for over 90 minutes.
