BLACKFOOT — The Bingham Healthcare Foundation has announced that it will donate $4,000 to School Resource officers in Bingham County and another $3,500 to the Blackfoot Police Department.

According to a news release from Bingham Healthcare Foundation, the donation to the schools will ensure that every School Resource Officer is equipped with an emergency response kit. The donation to the police department was used to purchase Level III-A ballistic helmets for the officers.

These donations were made because law enforcement throughout East Idaho have been facing a rise in encounters with armed individuals, which leads to an increase in the danger they face.

The donation for the resource officers will help ensure that they are able to respond quickly to any emergencies in schools. The kits contain essential tools that officers will be able to use in critical situations.

The ballistic helmets are designed to withstand high-risk situations and ensure that officers can perform their duties effectively. They will provide protection for all officers.

Tara Preston of the Bingham Healthcare Foundation said in the news release that it is honored for the chance to partner with law enforcement and helping them purchase the equipment they need.

"The safety of our officers directly impacts the safety of our entire community, and these items are essential for them to carry out their responsibilities in increasingly dangerous environments," she said.

Bingham Healthcare Foundation is committed to enhancing the health and safety of Eastern Idaho through its partnerships and contributions. It encourages others in the community to join them in their support for law enforcement.
