This is part of my listening tour — a series of events designed to increase the connection between our newsroom and our readers, and in particular with the subscribers who make it possible for us to produce important work every day.

I’ll be at Common Ground Coffee & Market , 6419 W. Ustick Road, in Boise from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.

I’ll provide the coffee. You provide your story ideas, thoughts on how we can best serve our community and questions about how we operate.

I hope to learn more about what interests you, and I hope you’ll learn more about our amazing staff that keeps pushing for answers to vital questions — whether at the Legislature, the governor’s office, the mayor’s office, the police department, the school system, or even the football field.

I’ve been working at the Statesman for 28 years, and I dig through the data on what you’re reading every day. But I still bet you’ll have ideas I haven’t considered and perspectives that I need to hear to ensure we’re telling the stories that matter most to the people who live here.
