The San Francisco 49ers and All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk are reportedly renewing negotiations on a long-term deal, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network 's Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo on Friday (August 9).

"The #49ers have made a renewed effort in recent days to strike a long-term deal with WR Brandon Aiyuk, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo . The situation is fluid and other teams, including Pittsburgh, are still in the mix. But a return to SF appears increasingly possible," Pelissero wrote on his X account. "So this is where things stand at the moment: After months of speculation, sporadic negotiations and recent trade talks, the #49ers are pushing to get a deal done that keeps Brandon Aiyuk in San Francisco for the long haul. Nothing done, but finally, things are moving."

The report comes days after the Niners were reported to have "re-engaged in conversations" with the Pittsburgh Steelers regarding a trade centered around Aiyuk.
