The Georgia Bulldogs will start the 2024 college football season as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, according to the Associated Press ' Preseason Top 25 College Football Poll released on Monday (August 12).

Georgia won back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championships in 2021 and 2022 before being snubbed by the College Football Playoff committee last December. The Bulldogs finished the 2023 season with a 13-1 (8-0) record, which included a blowout win against Florida State in the Orange Bowl, and the No. 4 ranking in the final AP poll.

The top 5 also includes perennial contender Ohio State at No. 2, followed by Oregon, entering its first season in the Big Ten Conference; Texas, entering its first season in the Southeastern Conference; and Alabama, entering its first season without seven-time national champion head coach Nick Saban , who announced his retirement in January.
