A misleading post shared by the National Football League's Instagram account caused confusion over seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady 's broadcasting gig and the possibility of once again un-retiring.

The NFL shared a video of Brady walking the sideline at SoFi Stadium prior to the Los Angeles Rams ' preseason win against the Dallas Cowboys, which included the text "Tom Brady back on the field" in the clip. Several Instagram users took the post as Brady potentially having an itch to come out of retirement again, despite his reported 10-year, $375 million contract to serve as FOX Sports ' new lead NFL analyst set to begin during the 2024 season.

Brady was, however, at SoFi for a practice run with FOX Sports ' lead NFL play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt while the actual broadcast was simulcast on NFL Network . The seven-time Super Bowl champion took a gap year between his last NFL season in 2022 and his official FOX Sports debut.

Brady will replace former NFL tight end and Emmy Award winner Greg Olsen , who will now join Joe Davis .

“I don’t want to let the people at FOX here down and I don’t want to let the great NFL fans down either,” Brady said during an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd in June.

“I think for me, so much is going to come down to the preparation. Did I feel like I was prepared? Did I feel like our crew was prepared? Did I give them my best over the course of the week so that we could give ourselves the best opportunity to be successful for the fans?” he added.

Brady will make his official NFL broadcasting debut during the September 8 Week 1 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns.
