Georgia School Shooter And His Father Appear In Court To Face Charges

Colt Gray , the 14-year-old accused of killing four people and injuring nine others in a shooting at Apalachee High School, appeared in court along with his father , Colin Gray , 54, to face charges related to the deadly attack.

The deceased victims were identified as math teacher and football coach Richard Aspinwall , math teacher Christina Irimie , and two students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo .

In addition, eight students and one teacher were injured in the mass shooting. They are all expected to recover.

Colt was charged as an adult with four counts of felony murder . His father was charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.

If convicted, Colt faces life in prison without the possibility of parole , while Colin faces up to 180 years behind bars.

Investigators said that Colin purchased the AR-style gun used in the shooting as a holiday present for Colt in 2023, despite having "knowledge he was a threat to himself and others."

Earlier in 2023, law enforcement agents interviewed Colt and Colin after the FBI received an anonymous threat to commit a school shooting was posted online. While Colin admitted that he owned guns, he assured officers that his son did not have "unfettered" access to the weapons.

Colt's mother is also facing legal trouble. There are warrants for her arrest stemming from several felony and misdemeanor charges in November 2023. She was accused of having a fake license plate on her car and being in possession of illegal narcotics.
