    Independence, KS police warn of recent car break-ins

    INDEPENDENCE, Kan. (KOAM) -- The Independence Kansas Police Department is asking residents to check surveillance cameras regarding a car break-in from the weekend.

    According to the police department, suspects from the break-in were caught in several locations on video entering multiple unlocked vehicles.

    Police say residents in the 900 block of north 6th Street, 200 block of east Sycamore Street, 1300 block of Irving, or the surrounding areas are asked to check surveillance footage from Saturday, July 27, 2024 during the morning hours.

    IPD Reminders:

    • Take your keys out of the car
    • Remove or hide valuables
      • Purses and bags
    • Put up car windows
    • Lock car doors
