KCPD reports Saturday evening homicide at 9th and Prospect

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KCPD reports that around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 officers were dispatched to a shooting at 9th and Prospect Avenue. When they arrived, they found a crime scene to the east at 9th and Chestnut Avenue.

KCPD claims that officers located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and began performing life-saving measures before EMS arrived on scene. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

This incident is being investigated as a homicide. Officers were able to find several witnesses on the scene and are currently interviewing them for information about the incident.

Crime scene investigators are also processing the scene for any physical evidence and detectives will continue to canvass the area for anyone with information.
