KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Independence Fire Department is investigating a fire that engulfed a “dangerous” home in Independence, Mo. on Saturday night.

According to IFD, just after 10:30 p.m., crews were dispatched to a home near College and High Street on reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews saw a heavy fire involving most of the home and worked diligently to extinguish it.

IFD said that after the fire was controlled, it was discovered that the home had been tagged as “dangerous” for previous fires, and utilities had been shut off.

When officers with the Independence Police Department arrived on the scene, they told IFD that they had received multiple calls regarding the same address being tied to vagrants and drugs.

IFD said that the structure has since been requested to be torn down “as soon as possible.”
