    Bicyclist critically injured after hit-and-run crash in Independence

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Independence Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run bicycle crash near Noland Road and Noland Court that left one pedestrian hospitalized with critical injuries on Saturday.

    According to IPD, at about 7:25 p.m., a 2010 Ford Edge was pulling out of a private drive when the driver hit a pedestrian on a bicycle.

    IPD said the Ford did not stop and continued northbound on Noland Road.

    It was reported that several witnesses saw the crash and followed the Ford, eventually blocking the driver in while calling 911.

    Officers later arrived at the scene and took the suspect into custody.

    The victim’s identity has not been released, however, they were taken to a hospital and are reported to be in critical condition.

    The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Crash Investigations Unit.
