Steamers Game In Horseheads – Rained Out
Wednesday’s contest between Hornell and Horseheads has been rained out. The two teams will make up this game on Monday, July 15th at 10:30 a.m., in Hornell. The Steamers next game is Friday, June 28, at home, when they play a pair of games vs. Dansville. First pitch of game one is slated for 4 p.m.
Tenth annual Alfred State Golf Tournament a success
The winning team of Raymie Auman, Jordan Wonderling, Nick Biedakiewicz, and Brett Migliore shot a 59 to win the Alfred State Drive for the Development Fund Golf Tournament. Thirty-four teams enjoyed gorgeous weather at the 10th annual Pioneers Drive for the Development Fund golf tournament at the Wellsville Country Club. The event presented by Mach Architecture raised more than $29,000 in cash and gifts in kind for Alfred State.

The Wellsville Little League is hosting the first round of the all-star tournament for New York State District 2 and we have a fun video to get you ready. Wellsville (1-0, thanks to a 2-0 win over LeRoy) takes on Fillmore (1-0, thanks to a 13-3 win over Bolivar-Richburg) tonight at 6 p.m. at Hank Sinkey Field in Wellsville.

Richard Harvey ELLIOTT, IV, 15, of Belfast, NY, affectionately known as Ricky, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2024. He was born January 4, 2009, in Buffalo. Ricky had just completed his freshman year at Belfast Central School and was a high honor roll student, a testament to his dedication to academics. Described as loving and caring, Ricky had a vibrant personality and enjoyed making everyone laugh. He was known among his family and friends as a jokester who brought joy and levity to those around him. His hobbies included making Tik Toks and YouTube videos, playing basketball, riding bikes, and spending time with his siblings.

This Thursday is “Balance Effect,” lots of vendors, and kids fun. Hornell Partners for Growth (HPG) is excited to announce its latest community event. “Thursdays at the Square” are taking place at Union Square Park in Hornell. For 9 Thursdays starting June 27, excluding July 4th, we will bring you a different form of entertainment, Live Music, DJ Kids Party, Karaoke, & Puppet Show. Food & Craft Vendors will be set up and the City fountain will be on from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM! Each week HPG will also provide FREE kids activities and free Ice-pops, while supplies last. We’ll also have plenty of chairs set out for relaxation and a designated area for those who want to dance and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Anyone interested in setting up as a vendor should reach out to HPG at 607-324-9786. We are also looking for a farmer to set up for those unable to make daytime markets in the area.

The Hornell Steamers ran their winning streak to five games with a 17-6 victory over the Salamanca Lizards. The Steamers are now 9-5 on the season. Hornell got on the board in the 2nd when Finn Ellis (Charleston) led off the inning and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Lizards battle with Steamers, fall after late offensive burst forces mercy-rule

MVP Trey Buchholz led five Bolivar-Richburg players selected to the recently announced Allegany County Athletic Association baseball all-star team. Buchholz, a senior pitcher/shortstop, was joined on the 13-member all-star team by four teammates: senior pitcher/first baseman Caden Allen, senior center fielder/pitcher Reiss Gaines, senior catcher Aydin Sisson and junior middle infielder/pitcher Landon Barkley.
