The San Francisco Bay Area has the second-largest Indian-American population in the United States, primarily concentrated in the Santa Clara Valley.  Here in Silicon Valley, they represent 6% of the workforce while they are only 1.35% of the US population.  Indian-born Silicon Valley CEOs are also part of a 4.8 million-strong minority group that is among the wealthiest and most educated in the US.  But all this success belies the fact that our community struggles with many chronic health issues like diabetes and heart disease. A lack of healthy lifestyle and eating habits are often the source of this problem.

Crack the Wellness Code (CWC) is rolling out a series of programs and health practices for community members to improve health and well-being by accessing effective solutions as well as resources on a sustainable basis. CWC is a non-profit that is the brainchild of Naren Bakshi and Dr. Pankaj Vij .  They have developed an independent Wellness Platform with a mission to “improve the wellbeing of 100K challenged South Asians in the San Francisco Bay Area with a combined outreach of 1 million plus in the US, India and worldwide.”

On Saturday, August 24 – CWC will host their annual event  “ Decoding Emerging Therapies and Practices ” in Fremont, California.  The focus areas will be Preventive Health, Emerging Practices, Mental Well-being, and Non-Communicable Diseases including Cancer.  Speakers include Dr. Michael Roizen , Dr. Daniel Kraft , Dr. Elissa Epel , Dr. Kevin Knopf and Dr. Ashish Atreja .

Here at India Currents, we strongly believe that reporting on health and wellness is paramount to our community. When our journalists report on health issues, it not only gives our readers tools and information to take health into their own hands but this reportage can help shape public opinion regarding policies and regulations that affect health and wellness.

India Currents is very proud to partner with CWC to be a media partner at this annual event.  We will continue our partnership with CWC by providing our readers with resources and engagement tools from doctors, support groups, health entrepreneurs, and data in the CWC ecosystem.

The annual event is open to all.  To find out more sign up here .
