A growing number of Historically Black Colleges and Universities are hiring student success coaches to increase retention. The initiative is part of a collaboration between the United Negro College Fund and a coaching organization called InsideTrack. Charlotte is failing to bring down traffic deaths, despite spending millions
Despite spending millions of dollars on traffic safety, Charlotte is falling short of its ambitious goal of zero traffic deaths by 2030, according to a new audit. When the city of Charlotte adopted Vision Zero five years ago, officials acknowledged getting to zero traffic deaths would be a stretch. But they said it was possible. Now, a scathing internal audit released last week and first reported by the Charlotte Observer finds the problem is getting worse. There were 125 deaths on Charlotte streets in 2022, up from 81 in 2020.

Chances Of Shark Attacks Higher In South Carolina
The University of West Florida did comprehensive research and discovered that beach goers are much more likely to be bitten in South Carolina waters than anywhere else in the continental United States. Erich Ritter is with the University and says while Florida gets most of the publicity for shark attacks, “South Carolina is where the true danger lies”. Now more shark attacks do occur in Florida but the survey takes into account the number of people and amount of days spent in the water. The study uses the number of people that enter the ocean on average.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man is sharing the pain of losing a friend to gun violence as homicides have seen a 36% increase in the city so far this year. Ranardo Perry, or Three, as friends call him, says Bryan Johnson was back in his old community visiting loved ones when he was shot and killed Friday night on Parkwood Avenue.
