The Indiana Fever notched one of their biggest wins of the season over the weekend, when they beat the 4 th -ranked Minnesota Lynx in Minnesota.

It may have been a home game on paper for Minnesota, but it certainly didn’t feel that way. Caitlin Clark fans packed the stands, which isn’t a huge surprise considering the close proximity of Iowa, Clark’s home state. While Clark didn’t have her best game of the season by any stretch, she was able to reward those fans with a clutch 4 th quarter, where she scored 10 points, and added 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.

The real star of the game however was last year’s 1 st -overall selection Aliyah Boston, who’s 17 points, 16 rebounds (a career high) and 4 blocks kept the Fever in the game. Kelsey Mitchell was a key contributor as well, dropping 21 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the win. It was a great team win for Indiana and showed that even when Clark isn’t at her best, they can still get the win.

It also showed that after a miserable start to the season, the Fever are starting to figure things out.

Indiana began the season going 1-8. Since then, they have gone 10-6, and have the 3 rd -best record in the WNBA over the past month. The chemistry between Clark, Boston, and the rest of the Fever roster seems to grow by the game, and currently, the squad sits at 7 th in the league standings with a winnable game coming up against Dallas before the Olympic break.

This isn’t to say the Fever are suddenly a favorite to win, or even make, the WNBA Finals. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. But after a brutal start to the season, it suddenly seems like this team is piecing things together, and offering more and more glimpses of what they could become.

During Monday’s edition of the show, JMV discussed the Fever and their impressive win with James Boyd of The Athletic. Listen to that conversation and more down below, and tune into The Ride With JMV weekdays from 3-6 on 93.5/107.5 The Fan!
