Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi is seeing good things in the future for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

It’s been over a decade since the Fever reached the top of the WNBA and won the franchise’s only championship in 2012, when Tamika Catchings was still leading the squad.

Since then, Indiana has not even come close to having the same success. The franchise hasn’t even made it to the playoffs since 2016.

Taurasi, who has been in the WNBA since 2004, has seen the Fever’s best years, and she believes that Clark is having a tremendous impact on Indiana’s chances of becoming great again.

"That's a team that for the last couple years [has been] trying to get to back to their glory days of Tamika Catchings and putting up a banner," Taurasi said of Indiana following the Mercury’s 88-82 loss to the Fever at home on Sunday, per Michael Voepel of ESPN .

"I think what [Clark is] doing for that team right now is pretty impressive."

It will take time for the Fever to become a legitimate title contender again, even with Clark on the team. But the future is bright for them, with a young duo of No. 1 picks in Clark and Aliyah Boston spearheading the attack.

Making the playoffs this season would be a big step in the right direction for the Fever, and it seems they are on pace to end their franchise postseason drought, as they are currently eighth in the WNBA standings with an 8-12 record.
