The Indianapolis Colts didn't utilize the UDFA market as much in 2024 as in past years.

However, multiple players will enter Training Camp with real aspirations of making the team's 53-man roster.

During Training Camp, I will be tracking the team's UDFA class and ranking who I believe to be the team's top five in what I'm calling the Colts 2024 UDFA Power Rankings.

These initial rankings will be the only rankings I will release ahead of Training Camp. But then, once that begins on July 25th, I will be sharing new power rankings once every two weeks up until the team announces their initial 53-man roster.

    1. Kedon Slovis, QB
The biggest name of the Colts 2024 UDFA class is, without a doubt, QB Kedon Slovis. Slovis and Colts star WR Michael Pittman Jr. are already accustomed to each other, with the duo playing together in 2019 at USC. Slovis was only a freshman, but it was far and away his best collegiate season in his five-year career, with him throwing for career highs with 3,502 yards and 30 touchdowns. And now he will try and force the Colts to keep three QBs while also battling with veteran Sam Ehlinger.

    2. Craig Young, LB
Craig Young comes to the Colts directly from Kansas, where he played his final two seasons. However, he began his collegiate career in 2019 at Ohio State and spent three seasons as a Buckeye. But it wasn't till he joined the Jayhawks in 2022 that he was able to flourish as a player. During his three seasons at Ohio State, he only recorded 25 total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, zero sacks, and one interception. But during his two years at Kansas, he recorded 101 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.

    3. Trent Pennix, RB
Trent Pennix began his career at North Carolina State in 2018 and spent his first four years as an RB. Thanks to him redshirting his freshman year and the Covid year, he was able to spend two extra seasons with the Wolfpack but made the switch to TE. The Colts have listed him as an RB since signing him, but he will for sure be an intriguing player to watch in Training Camp to see if he works with both position groups.

    4. Jason Bean, QB/WR
Slovis wasn't the only UDFA QB the Colts added, and they also signed Jason Bean out of Kansas. Bean had a long six-year college career, with him enrolling at North Texas in 2018 and transferring to Kansas in 2021, where he finished his career. He's a speedy QB who ran a 4.55 40-yard dash during the 2024 NFL Draft cycle and recorded an impressive 9'10" broad jump. The Colts have him listed as both a QB and a WR which will be fun to see his workload during Training Camp.

    5. Clay Fields, CB
Last but not least is CB Clay Fields out of Chattanooga. He began his college career at Marist in 2018 before transferring to Chattanooga for his final season in 2023. During his college career, he's played all over in the secondary at both safety positions as well as being an inside and outside CB. That type of versatility should help him come into Training Camp and compete at multiple spots. And with the Colts' secondary being such a big question mark, that versatility will be valuable.
