John Stamos’ Six-Year-Old Son Played Some Expert Tambourine at a Beach Boys Show

Actor and honorary/auxiliary Beach Boy John Stamos brought out a special guest at the band’s show in Indianapolis over the weekend — his six-year-old son, Billy, who added some additional percussion to “Good Vibrations.”

Stamos shared a clip of the incredibly cute cameo on social media, showing Billy — properly outfitted in some big green noise-canceling headphones to protect his ears — smashing a tambourine alongside his father. While the elder Stamos showed off with some big fills and flashy stick twirls, it was Billy who once again proved that, in rock and roll, simplicity is king as he bashed the hell out of that tambourine and barely missed a beat.

“Had a little help from my son Billy on ‘Good /Vibrations’ last night,” Stamos wrote on Instagram. “Wasn’t it nice!”

While the Indianapolis show marked the first time Stamos had actually brought his son on stage, in a recent USA Today interview, the actor noted that he always tries to bring Billy to his gigs via FaceTime. “People make fun of my selfie stick, but I use it to hit FaceTime for like four songs and just keep playing,” he said. “Most of the time, he’ll be like, ‘I gotta go, dad.’ He’s a character. He’s the light in my life, the reason I wake up in the morning.”

The Beach Boys’ “Endless Summer Gold 2024 Tour” — named in honor of the 50th anniversary of their classic compilation, Endless Summer — began back in May. And Stamos, who’s been playing with the band pretty regularly since 1985, has joined the group on scattered dates throughout the trek.

He played a long string of shows in late May and early June, and the Indianapolis gig was part of a three-gig run that wrapped last night, July 7, in Highland Park, Illinois. He’s set to join the band again in California next month for concerts in Los Angeles (Aug. 30), Temecula (Aug. 31), and San Diego (Sept. 1).
