INDIANAPOLIS — A man accused of attempted murder in Indianapolis has pled guilty to the charges against him.

Deonta Williams is accused of trying to lure two Indy Metro Police officers to a neighborhood near the State Fairgrounds and then trying to stab them to death. It all happened along Fairfield Avenue near 38th Street and East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive.

Williams, who is now 22, was 19 at the time in 2021 when police say he called 911 saying he was being harassed by a man.

The cops came and when they had their backs turned to look for the man, Williams stabbed them. Both of the officers survived the stabbing.

“He said that he felt the city owed him because he had received a large medical bill that he could not pay and decided to take it out on the officers,” court documents state.

The detective asked Williams what his plan was.

“Get my own justice,” Williams told the detective. “I was gonna kill an officer.”

Williams has a prior record as he had been arrested earlier in 2021 on a burglary charge. He was released from jail when The Bail Project stepped in to help bail him out of jail. The Bail Project is no longer allowed to bail inmates out fo jail in Indiana.
